Budget cuts

For those of you new to Iyengar yoga and find it painful, even torture-like. . . i can safely tell you it IS at the beginning. It is also painful and disappointing to see the regression of strength and precision when you fail to practice for 4-6 weeks.

So, I made my first class in quite some time last night. I have had to cut my budget severely and sadly my weekly iyengar class was on the chopping block. In the time I was away from class, my sciatic nerve pain returned, my thighs have become flabby and i have a new issue of clenching my jaw muscles unconciously so that I'm in pain both day and night. The lesson I learned, is that I can't afford NOT to go, and i've just got to find a way to get it in the budget. (contributions are welcome! :-) all kidding aside, being upside down made me feel new again last night.

What does yoga provide you that you can't live with out? How does it cure what ails you--whether it is physical, spiritual or psychological?
